Red Rum is the only race Horse in History to win the
Grand national three times. Born in 1965 Red Rum's first flat race
was on April 7th 1967 at Aintree.. for the Thursby Plate in which Red Rum
was joint winner as it was a dead heat, Over a career of over 10
years red Rum raced over 110 races winning 21 Steeple chases, Three Hurdle
races and three flat races.
red Rum Officially retired in 1979 . but returned to
Aintree to celebrate his 30th birthday. on 3rd may 1995, but on October
18th 1995 Red Rum was humanly put down in his stable at McCains and
was buried in a special grave next to the winning post at Aintree
racetrack. a wonderful horse which will never be forgotten.
